Pool flocculant can be useful when the water is cloudy due to very fine particles that the filtration system cannot remove effectively.

If the installation has a multiport valve and the product procedure allows it, it may be possible to slowly vacuum the residue using a manual pool vacuum with the valve set to the waste or drain position, preventing it from passing through the filter again.
