Does the sand or filter glass come included with the filter?

Is it better to use silica sand or filter glass?

I would not claim that glass always lasts longer, requires fewer backwashes, or reduces chemical consumption. If you want to replace sand with glass, first check that it is compatible with the filter and follow the recommended grain size and media quantity.

Can I replace the sand with glass without changing the filter?

In many sand filters, it is possible to use certain types of filter glass, but you must confirm compatibility beforehand.

Do not simply empty the sand and fill the filter with the same quantity of glass. Consult the specifications of the filter and filter medium manufacturers to determine the required grain size and media quantity.

If the filter uses different grain sizes or layers, also follow the distribution specified for that model.

Do I need to buy a new multiport valve when changing the filter?

It depends on the filter and the existing installation.

Some filters are sold with their multiport valve, while others may use different configurations. Even if an old valve appears to have compatible connections, you must check that it corresponds to the model, flow rate, and configuration of the new filter.

Before reusing it, also verify its condition and the manufacturer's specifications.
