Description

Before buying: the Waterco MultiCyclone 12 is a centrifugal prefilter which is installed before the main filter. This version incorporates 12 hydrocyclones and operates at a flow rate of 2.4 to 18 m³/h. Check the flow rate and connections of your installation before placing the order.

Reduces the dirt reaching the filter

The Waterco MultiCyclone 12 uses centrifugal force to separate heavier dirt particles from the water before before they reach the pool's main filter.

The water is distributed among its 12 hydrocyclones, where the centrifugal motion moves the sediment towards the walls and makes them descend into the lower transparent chamber.

Waterco states that the system can reduce by up to 80% the dirt load reaching the filter, helping to reduce maintenance and cleaning frequency.

Operation and maintenance

Centrifugal force separation

The water enters the hydrocyclones tangentially, generating a strong centrifugal motion. The heavier particles are moved outwards and descend into the sediment chamber.

The system operates without cartridges or other filter media that needs to be cleaned or replaced.

Quick purge

The transparent chamber allows you to visually check the amount of accumulated dirt. To remove it, simply open the lower purge valve.

Waterco states an approximate consumption of 15 litres of water per purge, reducing the need of carrying out frequent backwashing of the main filter.

The MultiCyclone 12 distributes the water among 12 hydrocyclones, where centrifugal force separates heavier particles before they reach the main filter.

Installation and dimensions

Where it is installed

The MultiCyclone is normally installed between the pump and the main filter, acting as a first stage of dirt separation.

It can be used with sand or cartridge filters and adapted to for both new and existing installations, provided that meet the unit's flow rate and connection requirements.

Dimensions

  • Height: 563 mm
  • Front width: 260 mm
  • Depth: 271 mm

Check the available space in the plant room before installation, especially the height required for the unit and access to the purge valve.

Waterco MultiCyclone range comparison

Code Model Connections Flow rate Maximum pressure
200372 MultiCyclone 12 · Current model 40 mm / 1½" 2.4–18 m³/h 3.5 bar
200375 MultiCyclone 16 63 mm 3.3–30 m³/h 3.5 bar
Less maintenance and water consumption: by reducing the amount of dirt that reaches the main filter, the MultiCyclone helps reduce cleaning frequency or backwashing. Waterco indicates that, in certain installations, with a sand filter, savings can reach up to 7,000 litres of water per year.

Frequently asked questions

Does the MultiCyclone 12 replace the pool filter?

No. It is a centrifugal pre-filter installed upstream of the main filter to reduce the amount of dirt that reaches it.

Does it require cartridges or filter media?

No. The MultiCyclone uses centrifugal force and does not contain filter media that needs to be cleaned or replace it periodically.

How do you clean the MultiCyclone?

Dirt accumulates in the lower transparent chamber. To remove it, open the purge valve; there is no need to dismantle the unit.

What is the difference between MultiCyclone 12 and MultiCyclone 16?

The MultiCyclone 12 features 12 hydrocyclones and operates at up to 18 m³/h. The MultiCyclone 16 has 16 hydrocyclones and supports a flow rate of up to 30 m³/h.
