A conventional winter cover should not be considered a safety cover or protection against certain loads from rain, snow, or people unless it has been specifically designed and certified for that purpose.

The water level during the winter depends on the type of pool, hydraulic system, cover used, risk of frost, and winterization procedure established by the manufacturer.

Therefore, we do not recommend automatically lowering the water below the skimmer or return jets. Some installations are prepared that way, while others use different procedures to protect the pipes and equipment.

Nor is it advisable to drain a pool completely without first checking that its construction allows this and determining which procedure should be followed.

During the winter, the operation of the salt chlorinator will depend on the equipment’s characteristics, the water temperature, and the winterization procedure recommended by its manufacturer. Therefore, it should not be assumed that all chlorinators must remain switched off throughout the winter.
